My Oven Won’t Bake! Tips for Viking Oven Repair in Ottawa

Are you looking for Viking oven repair in Ottawa? You’re not alone. Though Viking ovens are well-made pieces of equipment, like any oven, they’re prone to breakdowns and misfires after prolonged use. The oven is the cornerstone of your home meal preparation, and it accumulates a lot of wear and tear over time.

Well, have no fear. Our Ottawa Viking oven repair experts have assembled some quick-fix tips to help you handle the job on your own – and we’re standing by to help if you find yourself in over your head. What follows is a step-by-step Viking oven repair instructional for those who have found that their stove unit is not heating or baking as desired.

STOP!

Before you start your Viking oven repair attempt, make sure that all appliances are unplugged. It’s also recommended to test the outlet for proper voltage.

Replacing Bake Elements

If you’ve found that your Viking oven isn’t baking, there’s a good chance that you’ll need to replace the baking element. You can usually spot where the bake element has failed by inspecting its length for any punctures or tears. Additionally, white soot may be present near the equipment failure. If you need to place the bake elements, you’ll need:

First, remove the oven racks. They should slide out easily by pulling towards you. Tilt the rack upwards to release it as it nears the end of its track.

The element is held in place by two 5/16” screws, so these must first be removed. Once this is done, the element can be removed by hand. Pull gently.

Now we’re ready to install the new bake element. Line up the terminals on the element with the wires. These are typically going to be spade connectors, which means you can push it right into place by hand. You may need to use your pliers to attach the last one.

Once the wires are in place, push the bake element back and reattach it with the two 5/16” screws that were removed earlier. Once the element is secure, you can reinstall the racks. First come in at a high angle to “enter” the oven’s interior track, then as you push forward, drop the rack to level. It should slide in easily.

And that’s it!

You’re done! Your Viking oven repair is behind you, and you’re ready to bake up another batch of your favorite winter goods.
