We want any major appliance that we put our hard earned money into to last for years to come. So when they start to do things that make us scratch our heads, making us worry excessively over whether or not it’s a serious problem, sometimes the fix is simpler than you think.
Here are some simple dishwasher troubleshooting tips for the most common of dishwasher issues.
Try these tips first prior to calling a technician:
- If your dishes are still wet after a cycle, try to load the dishes so that the water can run off freely. You can also increase the setting of the rinse aid dosage.
- Many of us know that using regular dishwashing liquid in your dishwasher will lather up a roomful of bubbles for you to clean up, not to mention possibly wreak havoc on the inside mechanisms of your dishwasher. One thing that can happen is that the filter can become clogged. Removing, and cleaning the filter will usually do the trick, but if you’re still having trouble running the appliance, a call to the dishwasher repair technician could be in order.
- If your glasses are coming out of the dishwasher cloudy, see what your local water hardness is. You can also avoid this by using a lower temperature cycle, and a lime scale remover.
- If you have detergent residue at the end of the dishwashing cycle, check to make sure that the door of the dosing chamber is not blocked by bulky dishes or any large utensils.
Any food particles that get stuck inside your machine can cause an unpleasant odour. Making sure to clean your dishwasher filter on a consistent basis will not only keep it smelling fresh, but also ensure that it will have a long life ahead.
